I just won a $1000 Home Depot gift certificate

By valicious. Filed in Discussion  |

I got an email the other day from Wendy’s prize fulfillment services, and apparently I’ve won a $1000 Home Depot gift card.  I got the paperwork notarized and Fedex’d (3-day air)  on Tuesday.

Nly problem is…I have no idea what to do with it.  I’m not too crafty and can’t use power tools.  I live in Family and Grad Housing at UNM, so I don’t have a yard for a Brew Shack and I can’t do a keezer or kergerator because I can’t hook up any more appliances.

Any ideas guys?  Any chance I could recruit any of you to help me go do some damage at Home Depot?

Wow, that’s a really tough situation!

Have you considered buying some equipment for later use and loaning it out to somebody who can store it until you’re done with school? I had a friend in college who loaned out all his furniture to various friends while he was in college and got all of it back when he moved into a house….

A nice kegerator setup can be had from Home Depot for well under $1k, but the fridge might not be in the best of shape after a few years of hard drinking…

How long is the gift certificate good for? Can you stash it until you graduate or move?

I’ll give you $250 for it…lol! Other than buying all the materials needed to build one hell of a brew sculpture, a chiller, kegerator…not sure what other brewing equipment you could get.

Yeah, I would definitely trade you cash for a chunk of that gift certificate at, say, 50-75% rebate. I have a new house with lots of TLC needs…Call me if you’re interested.

Alternatively you could buy an appliance or something like Todd mentioned.

I’m waiting to hear back from them now. They would’ve just recieved the paperwork today, so it should be soon.

Lemme clean up my apartment some more, double-check about having another fridge (I would think it’d be ok if it just plugs into a regular outlet), and then I’ll go from there.

If I do choose to go the kegerator and brewstand route, any chance I could borrow some of you guys for a few days of shopping, building, drinking, and pizza?
